This is a really beautiful environment. It is appropriately named "Depths" with a deep forest receding into light. The movement of light and smudges in diagonal strokes helps the misty sunbeam effect. The foreground is well-defined as dark brush and trunks while the background is contrasted with light and tall trees. Very well done.
I definitely agree with you. At first when I was using the water to drag the paint along the surface I didn't like the intermediary grays which were starting to come, but now I look at it and the soft contrast really gives a feel of the a transition between the light foreground and the washed out background
